Pelotonia Ride Weekend begins on Friday, August 5, with an Opening Ceremony and continues Saturday and Sunday with a variety of cycling ride options ranging from 20 to 200 miles through Central Ohio.
Pelotonia was founded in 2008 with the objective of funding innovative cancer research. Since its founding, they’ve raised over $236 million – 100% of which goes towards cancer research. Ride Weekend is the “centerpiece of its year-round fundraising efforts … a three-day experience that includes a weekend of cycling, entertainment and volunteerism.”
Yet, it’s never been just about the ride. “It’s always been about setting and achieving an ambitious goal, and raising crucial funds to fight a disease that impacts us all.”

Their research includes a variety of novel cancer initiatives, dispersed broadly to tackle a number of different types of the disease. On their website, they host a collection of powerful stories on how Pelotonia dollars are making an impact, such as research on the origins of cancer, and studies of new treatments to breast cancer and pancreatic cancer.
Funds raised are allocated to The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J Solove Research Institute, as well as The Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology, a research initiative focused on harnessing the body’s immune system to fight cancer at all levels.
StrongArm, like so many organizations the world over, has been touched by cancer in so many ways. Raising funds for Pelotonia and participating in the Race Weekend are just two meaningful ways we strive to do well by doing good.
Last year, StrongArm sent nearly two dozen people to Ride Weekend – raising a record for a new company participating in the process. This year our staff has grown significantly, and our aim is to raise even more.
A big thank you to Pelotonia for hosting us again. We can’t express how grateful we are to be a part of your ongoing mission.
